The book has been printed in tritone by ANDO in The Hague. The design was done by Els Kerremans / Buro Typography Interiority & Other Serious Matters in The Hague, The Netherlands. Paradise City won a Best Dutch Book Design award 2011. Afterword. Photographs by Hans Bol. Recto Verso, 2011. 6 pp., 21 black & white illustrations, 9½x11¾". Publisher's Description Two weeks after Paradise City was published photographer Hans Bol visited the quarries again. Coincidentally he discovered that the 7 tablets that showed Saint Francis of Assisi’s beautiful poem Cantico del Frate Sole had disappeared – probably stolen by copper thieves. They were located above the village of Azzano along the path that leads up to Monte Altissimo where the cover photo of Paradise City was made. Because Assisi’s poem plays a central role in Paradise City and has been included as a whole in the book, Bol felt the need to make a separate afterword to stress this stupefying fact. Paradise City – Afterword/Nawoord/Nachwort is a folded booklet containing a short explanatory text in English/Dutch/German and shows 21 b&w reproductions; it comes in a transparent cellophane envelope, and fits in the back of Paradise City. Design, size, print and typeface are of course identical to Paradise City.
