Adolf Koelsch

author

Adolf Koelsch (1879–1948) was a German-born writer and biologist who lived in Switzerland for much of his professional life. After studying at the University of Heidelberg and obtaining his doctorate in 1900, he worked as a journalist in Würzburg before moving to Zurich in 1904. He became a well-known popular science author, specializing in botany and zoology, and was a frequent columnist for the Neue Zürcher Zeitung (NZZ). His work often interpreted the natural world for a general audience, and he authored numerous books on plants and animals. In the context of 'Hände und was sie sagen' (1929), he served as the primary author who introduced and explained the 64 photographs included in the volume.[1,2,3]
