Alberto Giacometti
author
Alberto Giacometti was a Swiss sculptor and painter who became one of the most influential artists of the 20th century. Born in Val Bregaglia, he moved to Paris in 1922 where he studied under Antoine Bourdelle. Initially associated with the Surrealist movement in the 1930s, his work evolved toward a unique style characterized by tall, extremely slender figures that explore themes of human existence and space. His artistic process often involved creating intermediate models in plaster before casting them in bronze. He maintained a lifelong friendship with photographer Ernst Scheidegger, who documented his studio life extensively.[1]
