Alexander Binder
author · photographer
Alexander Binder is a self-taught German artist and photographer based in Stuttgart who bridges digital and analog optics. His artistic practice involves pairing modern SLR cameras with vintage and self-constructed lenses to create images characterized by blur, aperture quirks, and chance reflections. He intentionally embraces imperfection as a strategy, allowing instability and material traces to remain visible while intuition leads his creative process. Binder's work often explores themes of meditation, nature, and the intersection of material and spiritual realities, influenced by a long-standing meditation practice. His photography has been featured internationally in publications such as The Guardian, British Journal of Photography, and Dazed & Confused, and his work has been exhibited in museums and galleries across Europe, North America, and Asia.[1,2]
