André Pieyre de Mandiargues (1909–1991) was a prominent French poet, essayist, novelist, and art critic. He began his literary career in the mid-1930s and published his first book, 'Dans les années sordides', in 1943. A significant figure in 20th-century French literature, he was associated with various intellectual circles and is noted for his diverse body of work which includes poetry, drama, and critical essays on art and philosophy. His writing often explored themes of aesthetics, memory, and the human condition. He remained active in the literary scene until his death in Paris in 1991.[1,2,3]
