Anna Auer is an Austrian photo historian, curator, and publicist. She founded 'Die Brücke' in Vienna in 1970, which was one of the first commercial galleries for artistic photography on the European continent. From 1975 to 1986, she served as the founding director and curator of the 'Fotografis' collection for Bank Austria (formerly Österreichische Landerbank). Her work has been instrumental in establishing photography as a recognized art form in Austria through exhibitions, symposia, and extensive research into both historical and contemporary photography. She was also the first female Honorary President of the European Society for the History of Photography (ESHPh) from 2001 to 2010.[1,2]
