Charles J. Van Schaick (also known as Charles Van Scoik) was a prominent commercial photographer in Black River Falls, Wisconsin. He opened his studio in 1879 and served as the town's primary photographer for over 50 years. His extensive collection of work includes thousands of glass plate negatives featuring studio portraits, street scenes, farming, logging, and intimate depictions of Native American life in Jackson County. Many of his photographs were used by Michael Lesy to illustrate 'Wisconsin Death Trip'.[1,2,3]
