Colin Leslie Westerbeck Jr. is an American art historian, curator, writer, and teacher specializing in the history of photography. He served as a Curator of Photography at the Art Institute of Chicago from 1986 to 2003, where he organized numerous exhibitions highlighting various photographic movements. After moving to Los Angeles in 2003, he became a regular contributor to publications such as the Los Angeles Times and West Magazine. Before his focus on photography, he worked as a film critic for Commonweal. He has received several awards, including the J. Dudley Johnston Award from the Royal Photographic Society (2000) and an Art Critic's Fellowship from the National Endowment for the Arts.[1,2]
