Colin Westerbeck

Colin Leslie Westerbeck Jr. is an American curator, writer, and educator specializing in the history of photography. He served as a Curator of Photography at the Art Institute of Chicago from 1986 to 2003, where he organized numerous exhibitions highlighting various photographic movements. After moving to Los Angeles in 2003, he became a regular contributor to publications such as the Los Angeles Times and West Magazine, writing frequently on photography for Art in America. He has taught the history of photography at both the University of California, Los Angeles (UCLA) and the University of Southern California (USC). Westerbeck is well-known for his scholarly work on street photography, most notably co-authoring 'Bystander: A History of Street Photography' with Joel Meyerowitz.[1,2,3,4]
