David Travis

David Travis is a prominent American curator and author who served as the Curator of Photography at the Art Institute of Chicago from 1977 to 2008. He began his career there in 1972 as a photography lecturer and later founded the Department of Photography in 1975. Over a thirty-five-year career, he organized more than 150 exhibitions touring internationally and published numerous books on modernist photography. His work includes curating major retrospectives for artists like Eliot Porter and Edward Weston.
