Dirk Suurmond (1926–2011) was a Dutch dermatology educator and professor at Leiden University. He was a prominent figure in Dutch medical circles, serving as an honorary member of the Dutch Association of Dermatology and as the chairman of the medical ethics committee of the Dutch Health Council starting in 1996. His career included service with the Medical Corps of the Dutch Army from 1953 to 1955. He co-authored several influential medical texts, most notably 'Dermatologie in beeld' and various didactic photo series, contributing significantly to medical training in the Netherlands.[1,2]
