Eudora Alice Welty was a prominent American short-story writer, novelist, and photographer known for her evocative depictions of the American South. Born in Jackson, Mississippi, her work is characterized by its precision regarding regional manners and the culture of small Mississippi towns. She published several pieces in magazines before reaching her teens and later became one of the most important literary figures of the 20th century.
