Frank Habicht (1938–2024) was a German-born photographer renowned for capturing the cultural dynamism and social upheavals of 'Swinging London' during the 1960s. He documented the era's emergent fashions, libertarian attitudes, and the lifestyles of the baby boom generation, featuring portraits of rock musicians, actors, and anti-war activists. After training at the Hamburg School of Photography, Habicht began his career in the early 1960s and gained recognition across Europe. In the 1980s, he moved to New Zealand, where he shifted his focus to documenting the landscapes, indigenous figures, and ceremonial events of the Bay of Islands. His work is characterized by an intimate approach to capturing both the iconic celebrities of the 1960s and the unnamed members of the public during that transformative period.
