Franklin Hollander
photographer · author
Franklin Hollander is a photographer who took the photographs for the 1983 Bauverlag book Hausboote / Houseboats / Woonboten in Amsterdam, a trilingual study of Amsterdam houseboat interiors and exteriors. According to his own website's profile, he was born in Amsterdam and worked in the United States, then studied in Spain and Sweden before settling in Hamburg in 1972. There he studied visual communication, photography and graphics at the college of fine arts and took photojournalism assignments for Der Spiegel, Stern and Zeitmagazin, even before completing his diploma. He reports winning awards for editorial work, but no awards are named in the sources consulted. In the early 1980s he photographed musicians on tour, including Count Basie and Joe Jackson. The sources consulted did not give his exact birth date, nationality, or any exhibition record, so those fields are left empty.[1,2]
