G. J. Speekhout

author

active 1942–1944

G. J. Speekhout is documented in trade and library catalogues as the editor (redactie) of the Nederlandsch Jaarboek voor Fotokunst, a Dutch annual of photographic art published by Smit in Hengelo during the Second World War. Catalogue listings name him as editor of the 1942/3, 1943/44 and 1944/46 volumes, and the series is held in the Rijksmuseum Amsterdam library. The 1944/46 volume reproduces about 64 plates, some in colour, with work by photographers including Charles Breijer, J.M. Moerkerk, H. Berssenbrugge, Willy Schurman, Steef Zoetmulder, Willem van de Poll, Paul Huf jr. and Fons Hellebrekers. The sources consulted do not give Speekhout's given names, birth or death dates, birthplace or nationality, and no primary biographical source could be retrieved, so those fields are left empty. His own photographic practice is not documented in the sources reviewed.[1,2,3,4]
