Helmut Völter

Helmut Völter is a German book designer and artist born in Berlin in 1978. He studied Visual Communication at the Bauhaus-Universität Weimar (1998–2003) and later pursued studies in Graphic Design and Book Arts at the Hochschule für Grafik und Buchkunst Leipzig, where he completed his Master of Fine Arts in 2006. Since 2005, he has worked as an independent graphic designer with a focus on book design. His work often explores the intersection of art, science, and photography. He has held various teaching positions, including at the HafenCity University Hamburg and the HGB Leipzig. Völter's artistic practice includes residencies at institutions such as the Victoria & Albert Museum in London (2016) and the Jan van Eyck Academie in Maastricht. His notable works include 'Wolkenstudien / Cloud Studies', for which he received a Bronze Medal from Stiftung Buchkunst.[1,2]
