Herman Romer

Herman Cornelis Johannes Romer (1931–2023) was a Dutch writer of prose, poetry, and historical non-fiction. He is particularly well known for his extensive documentation of the history of Rotterdam, publishing numerous works that captured both personal stories and broader historical contexts of the city across different eras, including the 1940s and the post-war period. Romer received the Anna Blaman Prize in 1971 for his collection of poems 'Voor de liefhebbers'. His literary career spanned several decades, during which he served as a copywriter and public relations chief before dedicating himself to chronicling Dutch history.[1,2]
