Jan Andries Blokker sr. (1927–2010) was a Dutch journalist, columnist, writer, publicist, and amateur historian. Born in Amsterdam's Admiralenbuurt, he began his career as a trainee reporter for Het Parool in 1952. He became widely known as a prominent columnist, particularly for his work in De Volkskrant, where he was often referred to as the 'king of columnists'. His writing spanned various topics including film criticism, history, and cultural commentary. He also served as the chairman of the Productiefonds voor de Nederlandse Film from 1983 to 1993. Blokker is remembered for his sharp wit and extensive contributions to Dutch public life.[1,2,3,5]
