Jane Corkin
author
Jane Corkin is a pioneering Canadian gallerist and art historian who founded the Jane Corkin Gallery in Toronto in 1979. She was one of the first to champion photography as a serious fine art form in Canada, curating and selling works by major figures such as André Kertész, Richard Avedon, and Robert Mapplethorpe. Her work has been instrumental in legitimizing the medium within the gallery system. In 2024, she was awarded an honorary degree from the University of Toronto for her visionary career in the arts.[1,2,3,4]
