John P. Jacob

John P. Jacob is an American artist, writer, publisher, photographer, and curator of avant-garde photography. He grew up in Italy and Venezuela before moving to New York City. He earned a BA in human ecology from the College of the Atlantic in 1981 and an MA in art history from Indiana University in 1994. Jacob is currently the McEvoy Family Curator for Photography at the Smithsonian American Art Museum. His career has involved extensive work with reproductive media, including photography, rubber stamps, mail art, and artists' books. He is recognized for his scholarly contributions to the study of avant-garde photography and his role in curating significant archival collections.[1,2,3,4]
