John Steinbeck

John Steinbeck (1902–1968) was an American novelist and Nobel Prize-winning author known for his depictions of the lives of ordinary people. Born in Salinas, California, he became a prominent figure in American literature during the 1930s and 40s. His works often explored social issues, including poverty and labor struggles. In 1947, Steinbeck traveled to the Soviet Union with photographer Robert Capa to document everyday life under Stalin's rule, resulting in the book 'A Russian Journal'. He was awarded the Nobel Prize in Literature in 1962.[1,3]
