John Vrieze
author
John Vrieze (1950–2009) was a Dutch museum director and art historian. He grew up in Canada and studied at the Toronto Conservatory before moving to Amsterdam to study art history. Throughout his career, he held various curatorial and administrative roles, including organizing exhibitions for the Vrije Universiteit Amsterdam and serving as a board member for several art commissions. Notably, he served as the director of the Cobra Museum voor Moderne Kunst in Amstelveen for over six years, where he curated numerous contemporary art exhibitions. He was recognized for his contributions to Dutch visual arts with an appointment as an officer in the Order of Orange-Nassau in 2009.[1,2]
