Karl Nierendorf

author

Karl Nierendorf (1889–1947) was a prominent German gallery owner and collector who played a significant role in promoting avant-garde art. He established the Galerie Neumann-Nierendorf in Berlin in 1926 with his brother Josef, where he exhibited works by artists such as Karl Blossfeldt. Nierendorf later moved to New York, where he continued to operate a prestigious gallery and collected modern art from both sides of the Atlantic. His role was instrumental in the publication of 'Urformen der Kunst', as he selected many of the images for its first edition.[1,2]
