Kenneth Randall Light is an acclaimed American social documentary photographer and educator who has dedicated his career to capturing the authentic experiences of diverse American communities. Born in the Bronx in 1951, Light began his professional journey in 1969 with the underground press, where he first developed his unique style of social documentation. His body of work is characterized by a deep commitment to documenting the American landscape, with a particular focus on rural Black poverty, labor history, and civil rights issues. His seminal project, "Delta Time: Mississippi Photographs," explores the cultural and economic realities of the Mississippi Delta. Light currently serves as a professor and curator at the University of California, Berkeley, and his photographs are held in permanent collections, including the San Francisco Museum of Modern Art (SFMOMA).[1,2,3,4]
