Laura Cunningham Wilson (born October 13, 1939) is an American photographer and author. She gained significant recognition for her work as a research assistant and collaborator to Richard Avedon during the production of his landmark series 'In the American West' between 1979 and 1984. During this period, she accompanied Avedon on his travels across the American West, documenting both the subjects of his portraits and his creative process. Her work often focuses on the intersection of photography and text, as seen in her various publications including 'Avedon at Work: In the American West' (2003). She has also produced independent photographic works exploring diverse subjects such as Hutterites in Montana and modern sculpture.[1,2]
