Léon Talabot (1796–1863) was a prominent French engineer, iron master, and politician. He is best known for founding 'Léon Talabot et Compagnie' in 1824, which later became the Société des Hauts-Fourneaux, Forges et Aciéries du Saut-du-Tarn. As an industrialist, he was a key figure in the French steel industry, advocating for protectionist policies to stabilize iron and steel prices. He served as a deputy for Haute-Vienne from 1836 to 1848 and was awarded the Legion of Honor. His industrial legacy is centered on the production of high-quality tools and steel products at the Saut-du-Tarn works.^[1]
