Machiel Karel Polano

Machiel Karel Polano (1907–1997) was a distinguished Dutch dermatologist and an emeritus professor of dermatology at Leiden University. Born into a family with a long medical tradition, he studied medicine in Leiden and received his specialized training in the lineage of Hermann Werner Siemens. He became a prominent figure in the field of dermatology, both as a clinician in The Hague and as an educator. He was instrumental in developing didactic materials for dermatology, including several photo series and textbooks used for medical training. He is remembered for his contributions to dermatological education in the Netherlands.[1,2,3]
