Marijn Cochius
author
Marijn Cochius (1874–1938) was a Dutch industrialist and the director of the Glasfabriek Leerdam from 1912 to 1933. He is renowned for transforming the Dutch glass landscape by seeking out modern, innovative designs through collaborations with prominent artists and architects. Driven by both idealism and commercial competition, he invited figures such as H.P. Berlage, Karel de Bazel, and even American architect Frank Lloyd Wright to design glassware. His vision aimed to elevate everyday functional objects into works of art, a philosophy reflected in the publication 'Het Schoone wint', which served as a trade catalogue for the factory's high-quality glass products.[1,2,3]
