Martin van Vugt

photographer

Martin van Vugt is a Dutch photographer born in Amsterdam in 1954. He began his photographic career in 1976 and became involved around 1980 in social photography—a form of socially critical and documentary photojournalism aimed at recording society and its social history. As part of the Amsterdams Fotografenkollektief (AFK), he contributed to significant works documenting peace demonstrations against cruise missiles, including 'Nederland zegt NEE' (1981) and 'Het blijft NEE' (1983). In later years, his work shifted toward aesthetic photography, focusing on composition, form, and technique in nature, landscape, travel, and conceptual photography. He is a member of Fotovrienden Westfriesland.[1]
