Maruta Schmidt

Maruta Schmidt is a German publisher and art historian. Born in 1944 to a Latvian family fleeing westward, she studied art history at the Technical University of Berlin in the 1970s. In 1978, she became a co-owner of the Elefanten Press Verlag in West Berlin, which specialized in left-alternative publications and art books. She has been involved in numerous editorial projects concerning women's history and contemporary art.[2,3]
