Michel Auer

Michel (Micha) Auer (1933–2024) was a prominent Franco-Swiss photographer, collector, and historian of photography. He was a leading figure in the documentation of photographic history, particularly known for his extensive publications on vintage cameras and the comprehensive "Encyclopédie Internationale des Photographes" (International Encyclopedia of Photographers), which he co-authored. He founded the Fondation Auer Ory pour la photographie with his wife, Michèle Auer, in Neuchâtel, Switzerland. Throughout his life, he curated a vast collection of historical photographs and cameras, significantly contributing to the preservation and study of the medium's heritage.[1,2,3,4]
