Michiel van Nieuwkerk is a Dutch photographer, filmmaker, visual artist, and interviewer. Born and raised in Amsterdam, he established his photography business in 1990. He is well-known for his versatile body of work, which includes portrait series such as 'De Cultuurmuur' (The Culture Wall) at the Amsterdam Museum and the '180 Amsterdammers' project. Van Nieuwkerk has also served as a producer and director for the documentary series 'Hollandse Meesters in de 21e eeuw', featuring portraits of contemporary Dutch artists. His artistic practice often explores the intersection of photography and sculpture, utilizing materials like clay and earth to create three-dimensional works inspired by visual imagery.[1,2]
