Nico Scheepmaker

Nico Scheepmaker (1930–1990) was a Dutch journalist, poet, and columnist. He studied Slavic languages and literature at the University of Amsterdam and worked as a translator, notably translating Boris Pasternak's 'Doctor Zhivago'. In the 1950s, he gained success as a poet, winning the Anne Frank Prize in 1958. He became well-known for his sports journalism, particularly his columns on football, where he was noted for his meticulous tracking of individual players and his use of various pseudonyms like Trijfel and Hopper. He also worked as a television critic and contributed to several major Dutch newspapers and radio stations.[5]
