Pierre Commoy is a French photographer who has worked in collaboration with painter Gilles Blanchard since 1976 under the joint pseudonym Pierre et Gilles. Born in La Roche-sur-Yon in 1950, he studied photography in Geneva before moving to Paris. His work is characterized by hand-painted photographs that blend photographic realism with kitsch aesthetics, exploring themes of religion, pop culture, and mythology. He has collaborated with numerous celebrities and artists, including Andy Warhol, Madonna, and Serge Gainsbourg.[1,2]
