Richard Cobb (1917–1996) was a prominent British historian specializing in modern French history. He is particularly noted for his extensive research on the French Revolution and its impact on the working classes. After spending over a decade as an independent scholar researching in French archives, he became a Professor of Modern History at the University of Oxford. His scholarly contributions were highly regarded in France, leading to him being awarded membership of the Legion d'Honneur.[1,2,3,4]
