Richard Greiling

author

Emil Richard Greiling (1882–1954) was a German industrialist who founded the Zigarettenfabrik Greiling in Dresden in 1919. Under his leadership, the company grew into one of Germany's largest cigarette manufacturers, employing approximately 4,000 workers by the late 1920s. In 1930, he sold the enterprise to the Reemtsma Group. Greiling later established other industrial ventures in Switzerland and acquired various companies, including shoe factories and food chains, often through 'Aryanization' processes during the Nazi era. He was a former captain in the German army during World War I. Following the war, his business activities were diverse, spanning tobacco, footwear, and hospitality.[1,2,3,4,5]
