Robert A. Sobieszek was a prominent American photo historian and curator who specialized in the history of photography and visual culture. He held significant curatorial positions at both George Eastman House and the Los Angeles County Museum of Art (LACMA), where he served as Curatorial Co-Chair and Curator of Photography for fifteen years. Sobieszek earned his Master of Arts in Philosophy with a focus on Art History from Stanford University and was a doctoral candidate at Columbia University. His scholarly work is characterized by intellectual rigor and a deep sensitivity to the poetic and historical dimensions of photographic images.
