Robert Rauschenberg

Robert Rauschenberg (1925–2008) was a seminal American painter and multi-media artist who pioneered the radical blending of materials and methods in mid-20th century art. His work is associated with numerous movements including the New York School, Conceptual Art, Pop art, and Neo-Dada. He is particularly renowned for his 'Combines' (1954–1964), which merged painting and sculpture by incorporating everyday objects into artworks. Rauschenberg was a pioneer of the Pop art movement and continued to innovate until his death in 2008.
