Romeo Martinez

Romeo Martinez (1911–1990) was a French journalist and editor who became a prominent figure in the world of photography. He worked in illustrated journalism in Paris starting in the early 1930s and served as a war correspondent during the Spanish Civil War, for which he obtained French citizenship in 1939. Martinez is best known for his tenure as the editor-in-chief of 'Camera' magazine from 1953 to 1964, where he transformed it into an international reference for photography and art history. He was a significant promoter of photographic culture, serving as a curator for the Venice Biennale of Photography.[1,3]
