Ted Orland

Ted Orland is a photographer, teacher, and writer who co-authored the influential book 'Art & Fear.' He began his career in industrial design at the Charles Eames office, where he worked as an exhibit designer and darkroom technician. In 1966, he attended a photography workshop led by Ansel Adams, which significantly influenced his artistic trajectory. Orland served as an assistant to Ansel Adams for several years before becoming an instructor himself. He has taught university-level photography classes and workshops on artistic development. Based in Santa Cruz, California, he continues to balance careers in teaching, writing, and photography.[1,2]
