Timothy Francis Leary (1920–1996) was an American psychologist and author who became a prominent figure in the 1960s counterculture as a leading advocate for the use of psychedelic drugs, such as LSD, for personal growth and exploration of consciousness. He was a scholar of psychology and a writer of numerous books on culture, meditation, and psychedelics, and was known for the phrase 'turn on, tune in, drop out.'^[1]
