Walter Schmidkunz was a German publisher, alpine writer, and journalist. Born in Kiel, he became a prominent figure in the world of mountaineering literature and skiing. He was known for his popular books on hiking, cooking, and alpine history. His work often focused on the cultural aspects of mountain life and sports. He collaborated with several other authors, most notably Luis Trenker, on various publications regarding the Alps.[1,2]
