Sylvia Plachy's Unguided Tour is a compelling collection of 120 duotone photographs that captures the photographer's unique perspective on people and places. As a staff photographer for The Village Voice, Plachy developed a style characterized by freshness and spontaneity, often conveying drama or prompting laughter through her poignant imagery. This first published collection spans a wide geographical range, from her native Hungary to her home in Queens, New York, including stops in Nicaragua and Marine boot camps on Parris Island. The book won the International Center of Photography's Infinity Award for Best Publication in 1991. Some editions include a flexi disc featuring music by Tom Waits.
