Adriaan van Dis

Adriaan van Dis is a prominent Dutch author, essayist, and television presenter. Born in Bergen in 1946 to parents with an Indonesian war history, he debuted in 1983 with the novella 'Nathan Sid'. He is well-known for his novels exploring themes of identity, memory, and cultural heritage, most notably 'Indische duinen' (My Father's War), which won several prestigious awards. Van Dis has received numerous accolades, including the Libris Literature Prize in 2015 and the Constantijn Huygens Prize for his entire oeuvre.
