Akram Zaatari

Akram Zaatari is a Lebanese contemporary artist, filmmaker, photographer, archival artist, and curator. Born in Saida, Lebanon, he lives and works in Beirut. His artistic practice is deeply engaged with notions of collective memory, the politics of the image, and the archival process. He is known for transforming archives into living narratives, often exploring the intersection of history, desire, and identity. In 1997, he co-founded the Arab Image Foundation, an artist-driven organization dedicated to preserving and showcasing the visual culture of the Arab world.[1,2]
