Alécio de Andrade

photographer

Alécio de Andrade (1938–2003) was a Brazilian photographer, poet, and pianist who settled in Paris in 1964. He was the first Brazilian to join the Magnum Photos agency (associate member from 1970 to 1976). His photographic work is characterized by a poetic vision of everyday life, capturing fleeting moments with sensitivity. Notable series include 'The Louvre and its Visitors' and his documentation of the Carnation Revolution in Portugal. He was known for his ability to capture both famous figures and nameless faces as icons of mythology.[1,2,3,4,6]
