Alexandre Serebriakoff (1907–1995) was a French painter, watercolourist and decorator of Russian origin. He was born in Kursk on 7 September 1907 and died in Paris on 10 January 1995. His mother was the painter Zinaïda Serebriakova, and the family belonged to the Benois artistic dynasty. After the Revolution and the death of his father Boris in 1919, he settled in Paris with his family in 1924. He became known for interior portraiture, recording the decor and celebrations of French high society, with clients including the Duke and Duchess of Windsor and the Rothschild family. He also designed film sets and often worked with his sister Catherine. In the 1930s he illustrated children's books by Alice Piguet, among them Notre France, Petites Histoires de Tante Nène (1931) and Tirely astronome (Gallimard, 1935), for which he made color lithographs printed by Mourlot. He is buried in the Russian cemetery of Sainte-Geneviève-des-Bois.[1,2]
