Anders Petersen

author · photographer

Anders Petersen is a prominent Swedish photographer based in Stockholm, widely recognized for his intimate, personal documentary-style black-and-white photography. He began his career in the mid-1960s, studying under the influential photographer Christer Strömholm, and later co-founded the Fotoskolan photography school. His work is characterized by a direct, unfiltered approach to capturing human emotion, social complexity, and marginality. He has published more than 20 photobooks, including the seminal 'Café Lehmitz' (1978), which is considered a defining work of late 20th-century European documentary photography. His projects often explore the intersection of personal observation and public life.[1,2,3]
