Andreas Gursky (born 1955 in Leipzig) is a prominent German photographer known for his large-scale, digitally manipulated images that explore the complexities of globalization, consumerism, and social structures. A member of the Düsseldorf School of Photography, Gursky studied under Bernd and Hilla Becher. His works often depict industrial landscapes, large-scale agricultural fields, and massive social gatherings, characterized by a painterly eye and a 'quasi-documentary' perspective. His work is noted for its technical virtuosity, merging hyperreal details with vast, sublime perspectives to examine the human impact on the contemporary world. He lives and works in Düsseldorf.[1,2]
