Andrew Thorndike

Andrew Thorndike (born August 30, 1909, in Frankfurt am Main; died December 14, 1979, in East Berlin) was a German documentary film director and photographer. He worked extensively for the DEFA studio in the GDR, directing 16 films between 1949 and 1977. His work often focused on social issues and historical narratives. He was married to Annelie Thorndike, with whom he formed a creative partnership in filmmaking and photography. In addition to his directorial roles, he provided the photography for several publications, including travel reports like 'Jeder Tag war schön'.[3,4]
